Two men step outside a Chicago bar to smoke and realize they may be looking for something else entirely

coming summer 2026

You Smoke? is a product of the sacrifice of friendship.

This is our offering to Chicago nights. Black people. Black and Brown Queer Peeople. House music bumping. Sidewalks Glossy lips. Really good fits. Cackling. Smoking under the streetlight, breath fogging the air. Energy you can feel before you name it. Friendship as ritual. A jay or three. Puffing, puffing, passing. Laughter. Belly laughter. Cold hands shoved deep in pockets. Checking the door. Checking the line. Running to the ATM because nobody remembered that one bar is cash only. Hoping you brought your card. Hoping Cash App loads. Zelle. Venmo. Hella bodies. Being perceived. Liking being perceived. Hating being perceived. Eye contact that lingers a beat too long. A look held too long. Shoulders touching on accident, then not. Sweat. Butterflies in your chest. Bass in your chest. Time stretching. Timing everything. Not forcing it. Sitting in the pause. Sitting outside together, watching smoke rise and disappear.
