Alien Registration Number is a performance-driven experimental documentary that stages a choreographed USCIS waiting room as a site of memory, bureaucracy, and arrival. Projected image and video move through the space alongside oral histories from DACA recipients, now adults, reflecting on their earliest memories of coming to the United States as children. The film looks at immigration from the perspective of those first named and processed as “aliens,” asking what remains in the body long after the paperwork is complete.
